HOW TO START GOAT FARMING IN ZAMBIA?

top-news

Goat farming is one of the most profitable businesses which many people don't pay attention to because it's considered to be involving and it takes time pay dividends. They want to engage in quick money making businesses which are not sustainable in the long-run. But if you want to make good money in livestock sector I encourage you to consider goat farming because I will make it easier for you by sharing tips to help you. One most important thing you need to know is that goats do not need huge capital to start, do not need huge space and also your time as compared to other animals, whilst giving you more profit than any other animal.

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD THINK GOATS

-Goats do not need huge capital. Let's say you want to start with five goats 4 females (Does) each cost K500-K700 local breeds, One male (Buck) cost K1500-K2000 a cross breed a local breed is costing K800 one. Let's say you have K2000 for 4 females and K1500 for a male total is K3500 as your capital. NOTE: One female goat delivers(kidding) twice per year, if you get those born in twin sets, you are likely to have 2-4 kids(babies) each year from one doe (she goat) we are talking of 8-16 kids per year, investment is in kids born. Then you will sell your kids as crosses with higher price as compared to those of the mother, let's say you sell each at K1000 each you will get your capital back and buy more females so that you expand your flock for more money. If you don't have a farm to keep them (buy, rent or ask from those who have big lands lying idle).

-Goats do not need huge space, you can keep goats in an acre provided that there is grass, shrubs and water if one of these is missing it's hard to succeed, because these animals need them to survive as we human also need food. Goats can be allowed to graze along the road provided that you prevent them running into a moving car.

-Goats do not need to be fed always like chickens and other animals, goats can feed from the grass in the bush when they come back home they give you fertilizer for your vegetables and maize or any

-Goats do not need more of your time, goats need 3-5hrs of grazing, though depends on the availability of the grass and shrubs meaning you can do other things during the day before attending to them.

-Goats are easy to sell, these days there more buyers than sellers of goats with the high demand for their meat in Congo DRC gives us a sure market accessibility any time.

-Goats have few religious restrictions if any, making them needed for everyone despite their beliefs.

-Goats can be fed on only grass with few supplements, if you stay in area where you can't take them out to graze cutt clean grass along the road and feed them you will still be getting profit from them. Next time we shall talk about breeds my name is Joshua Mweeka Mweetwa contact me for more WhatsApp number is 0973593360 based in Chibombo District, Central Province of Zambia.
